A human organ can’t be manufactured in a laboratory. Its a very special gift from people who care like you. Tragically, the need for donated organs and tissues far exceeds the supply. Each day more than 50000Americans wait for life-saving organs, or are in desperate need of skin, corneas, bone or other tissue.

More than 20 organs and tissue can save or improve a person’s quality of life through transplantation. They include the heart, liver, lungs, kidneys, pancreas, corneas, bone, heart valves, and skin.

Facts About Organ Donation:

Virtually anyone regardless of age or previous illness, can be a potential donor.
• One organ and tissue donor can potentially benefit 50 people.
• More than 50,000 Americans (1000 of whom live Florida, 900 in Georgia, and more than 200 in Puerto Rico) are awaiting life-saving organ transplants.
• Donation is not disfiguring and will not alter funeral arrangements.
• AIr major religions approve of organ and tissue donation and consider it an act of charity,
• No costs are incuned by the donor family for organ and tissue donation.
• Talk to your family and friends about your decision to donate. The Uniform Anatomical 0th Act of 1969 gives you the legal right to sign a donor card specifying your wish to donate organs or tissues upon your death.
